DSU Alumni Association’s Youngest President Leah Williams

In this episode of Out & About with Antionette, I interviewed the youngest DSU Alumni Association’s President Leah Williams.

Fun Facts:

• Leah is a two-time graduate of Delaware State University, where she obtained both her undergraduate degree and MBA. 
• Leah currently works as a Principal Quality Engineer for Northrop Grumman, one of the top defense technology companies in the world. Leah joined Northrop in 2016, and has held roles in Supplier Diversity, Procurement, and Strategy. 
• Leah has been recognized as one of the top 30 under 30 Rising Supply Chain Stars in the Country by Thomas & ISM. Leah has continued to further her education and completed her second Master’s in Cybersecurity Technology in 2020 from the University of Maryland, Global Campus. Leah also holds various certifications including the Project Management Professional (PMP), and Security+ Certifications. 
• After being diagnosed with Crohn’s disease at the age of 22, Leah serves as an advocate and strives to be an inspiration to others who are battling illness. 
• Leah is also an advocate for Historically Black Colleges & Universities. 
• Leah was awarded the HBCU Young Alumni of the Year by the DCHBCUAA for 2019 and currently serves as President of the Delaware State University Alumni Association, the youngest ever elected..
• A gifted musician, Leah plays nine instruments and arranges music. 

The Interview

Leah is the youngest elected president of Delaware State University Alumni Association and I was honored that she tapped me to run as the Recording Secretary on Team Building Bridges and gave reasons why I was chosen. She is the middle child of triplets and plays 9 musical instruments and was one of the only female arrangers in the Delaware State Marching Concert and Jazz Bands.

At the age of 22, Leah was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease which is an autoimmune disease and she works as an advocate to spread the awareness about this “invisible” disease with the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation. Leah, supported by her family and best friend and college roommate after her diagnosis also and credits her faith in God to get her through to good and bad days.

As president of DSUAA, Leah’s Blueprint for Team Building Bridges includes the following:
