How Do You Want To Be Remembered?

Between the date, you were born and the date when you die

How Do You Want to Be Remembered?

headstone

What do you want people to remember most about you?

Were you kind and honest….trustworthy and forgiving?

Did you spew hatred and untruths or did you speak with love and kindness?

Were you a hard worker, a good friend, a fantastic lover?

Imagine if you had to write your own obituary for the local newspaper, what would you say?

What are the most important things that you experienced in your life?

Did you live and work in such a way that the last comments about you are really what you want to have said?

Did you laugh and love with passion?

Were you generous with your time or stingy to a fault?

What will your friends and family remember the most?

  1. I know people who have attended our local community college, who had to write their obituaries as an assignment. I haven’t ever done this thought exercise. Would have to think about a lot.

    1. I know what you mean, I just hope that people will remember all the good times and positivity that I brought into their lives because I try hard to make sure to keep negativity at bay.

  2. Great question! Hopefully we can all live our lives like caring good humans because that is the right thing to do!
Some of my elderly Mother’s friends wrote their own obits. One friend outlived her parents her husbands, her sibling and her one child. No one would know her story as well as who she was so she wrote it with instructions on all her funeral needs. Another of my Mother’s friend wrote hers as well so not to burden her daughter with details! Knowing both women my entire life, they did not puff themselves up but neither did they write more about their achievements and accomplishments because they were of that generation that did not believe in boasting!

    1. My grandmother had hers ready as well, however, no matter who writes mine, I hope it includes that I was a very positive person who enjoyed making others happy more than myself!

I want to know what you think, please leave a comment and share with your circle.
