Black Eye Peas Cooked

On Christmas afternoon my girlfriend Tonette stopped by for a visit and I was cooking dinner. We were talking about meals for the holidays including what we each cook for New Year’s Eve.

I was cooking collard greens for dinner and had mentioned that I also cook them along with Black Eye Peas every year on New Year’s Eve.

Cooking Collard Greens and Black Eyed Peas is a New Year’s Eve Tradition in our home and so is watching The Twilight Zone Marathon.

We then started talking about other New Year’s Eve traditions and superstitions and she told us how her mother insisted that a man be the first one to enter the house after midnight which made me laugh because we did the same thing, but he had to have money in his pocket…for luck.

That got me to thinking as to what other New Year’s Eve Traditions and Superstitions we have that we pass along to our kids. What are some of your New Year’s Eve traditions and superstitions that are part of your family’s history?

    1. Yes, I love how some things never change and most times it’s a meal preparation. However, in trying to keep it healthy I don’t use pork products and stay away from adding table salt the way my grandmother did when we were kids.
