Ocean City was the place to be on our 27th Wedding Anniversary!

Ocean City Was The Place To Be On Our 27th Wedding Anniversary

On Friday, August 11th, my husband and I celebrated our 27th Wedding Anniversary with a weekend getaway to Ocean City, Maryland.  Just a two hour trip from our home in Delaware, I must admit that it was a perfect destination to relax, unwind and reconnect.

Ocean City Maryland Beach

Normally, I book our vacations far in advance, however, for this trip it was last minute and I was fortunate to find The Princess Royale online via my employer’s benefits program and at a much better rate than other websites.

I rented a car from Enterprise, also at a contracted rate through my employer’s benefits program and hubby and hit the road around noon on Thursday.

The ride down was uneventful and stress-free not only because of the time of day that we decided to leave but because it was also on a Thursday.  However, I knew the return trip home on Saturday wouldn’t be as easy and of course, it wasn’t because of the torrential rains and traffic.

I am glad that the rain held off because the hotel was right on the beach overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, and with temps in the mid 80’s and a calm sea breeze, it was a perfect vacation getaway.   Hubby and I enjoyed every minute of it and we can’t wait to return to Ocean City again.

As much as I tried to stay unplugged and off the grid the sunset was just too gorgeous not to record which you can check out on either my Facebook page or YouTube Channel.

Our room was located on the 4th floor of The Princess Royale Oceanfront Family Resort & Condos and it was spacious with a small kitchenette.  However, we were located on the side of the building with a partial view of the ocean.

The balcony was a tight fit and I would have preferred a room overlooking the front of the ocean for better views of the sunrise and sunsets.  I hadn’t requested it as I assumed with the lateness of my booking nothing would be available, however, it wasn’t until an evening walk down the strip that hubby and I saw the vacancy sign atop the building.

The room was nicely furnished with plenty of fluffy pillows, soft towels and great water pressure in the shower which is always a pet peeve for me.  The parking garage was also tight but I wasn’t going to pay $10.25 per day for Valet parking, plus we only needed to leave the hotel once on our last evening.

front desk clerk

Even though I had contacted the hotel several days prior and followed them on all their social media platforms advising them of our Anniversary arrival, and that I was also a blogger, there wasn’t any acknowledgement of such nor any extra amenities…oh, yes, at checkout, the clerk did say, “I hope you had a nice anniversary” – so obviously it was noted.

The hotel had several types of room accommodations including Cabanas on the second floor which also housed the indoor heated swimming pool an area with arcade games, and directly outside were two heated saunas and a spacious sunning deck.

On the first floor and lower level, there was a Fitness Center, Schooner’s Restaurant and Comedy Club and a Spa/Beauty Salon none of which we indulged – maybe next time.  The lobby was beautifully decorated and there was a small Gift Center from which hubby purchased a sweat shirt because it got chilly in the evening and a small Mini Mart with souvenirs, snacks, and beverages.  We popped in to check out the items, however, decided to walk a few blocks down to Acme to get some fresh fruit, juice, and snacks instead.

Hubby and I enjoyed relaxing on the Sundeck taking silly selfies, listening to live entertainment and sipping on Pina Coladas, his was a virgin, mine not so much!

On Thursday, we had a late lunch at Bull on the Beach and Friday, Brunch at Layton’s both of which had amazing food which filled us up, so much so, that with great intentions of heading out to celebrate our Anniversary on the town, we ended up driving into town and just picking up Middle Eastern Cuisine from OCKabob & Grill.

It was a perfect mini getaway, and the only complaint was the fact that I didn’t get a chance to pick up some Ocean City Crabs to bring home to my son because the rain storm was just too much.  The rain didn’t cease until we arrived back in Delaware, oh well, more of a reason to return to Maryland before the summer ends.

  1. NICE photos! You guys look great! Happy Anniversary! Our 34th is next month – YIKES! 😀

I’m partial to any place near water (San Diego), but I’ll always settle for anywhere with room service! 😀

    Enjoy the weekend!

    1. 34 years, how awesome – congratulations that is truly a testament of love! Anything special planned or just relaxing? I know what you mean about room service and not having to make the bed! Enjoy the weekend.

      1. Thank you.

Of course, the 17th falls on a dialysis day and he’s always fatigued for the rest of the day. Our daughter and son-in-law are leaving the following week headed for another Army base halfway across the country, so we’ll probably try cram all our celebrating into the weekend! LOL!

  2. I was following along on social media. It looks like you both had a fun and relaxing time. I need to add this place on my travel bucket list. Congrats again Sis on celebrating 27 years! Cheers! #ProductReviewParty

  3. Love the east coast. My son went to Annapolis and is now in Pax River Maryland. I haven’t made it to Ocean City yet, but my husband says it’s beautiful. Looks wonderful. Happy Anniversary too!
