On Monday evening, hubby and I had an opportunity to dine at Viva Chicken, a Peruvian Rotisserie Joint located in the Centre Pointe Plaza Shopping Center, 1103 Churchmans Road in Newark.

This invitation-only event was the Practice Party & Pre-Grand Opening of Viva Chicken scheduled for it’s Grand Opening tomorrow, July 11th.

We arrived at 6:45 PM for our 7:00 PM reservation, and the joint was jumping, it was packed…however, once we received a menu, which contained a limited sampling of their full menu, we placed our order and found seating next to some other friendly patrons.

One of those friendly patrons allowed us to try his fries which hubby was eyeballing and they were so good that we requested an order which was  quickly brought to the table with our original placed order.

Hubby ordered the Pollo A La Brasa, which was ¼ chicken with two sides, and he chose Sweet Potato Fries and Green Beans, we both agreed that the regular fries were much better than the Sweet Potato Fries.

I chose the Tacu Bowl, which contained Cilantro Infused Rice, Canary Beans, Salsa Criolla (Lime Marinated Onions and Tomatoes), Avocado, Green Onions and chicken and the infused  Peruvian spices had my taste buds tingling yet my eyes remained dry!

As you can see, both dishes looked amazing and they tasted even better, and hubby is a very picky eater, so when he says something is good, it’s good!

Charlotte, N.C. (June 27, 2018) – Viva Chicken, the authentic Peruvian Rotisserie Chicken sensation started in Charlotte by restaurateurs Randy Garcia and Bruno Macchiavello is opening its doors in Christiana on Wednesday, July 11. Known for its Pollo a la Brasa, a delectable herb-enhanced rotisserie chicken cooked in a charcoal-fired oven imported from Lima, Peru, the new restaurant is located in the Centre Pointe Plaza shopping center (1103 Churchmans Road) in Newark.

“The keys to Viva Chicken’s menu are authenticity and Peruvian-sourced ingredients,” says Macchiavello.  “We are excited to bring both to our first location in Delaware and get to know the Christiana community.”

In addition to the rotisserie chicken marinated for 24 hours, Viva Chicken’s menu includes favorites such as Quinoa Stuffed Avocado; Andina Power Food Salad with Viva Chicken’s Signature Lime Passion Fruit Vinaigrette; and Arroz Chaufa (Peruvian fried rice) with choice of pulled rotisserie chicken or steak. Viva Chicken offers guests a high standard of customer service that includes food and drink table service and bussing of tables. Those in a hurry can use the online ordering option to place their order in advance, then swing by and take home a meal for their family. Viva Chicken is a Peruvian Rotisserie Joint specializing in Pollo a la Brasa. The fresh, flavorful menu is packed with inspired recipes that transport taste buds to the streets of Peru. Quick, convenient and a great spot for dine-in or takeout, Viva Chicken serves only the freshest ingredients. The chicken is 100 percent natural, hormone free and cooked fresh every hour in a hand built, charcoal-fired oven imported from Lima, Peru.

Located on an island were three types of sauces (toppings) which ranged from mild to spicy, however, none were too spicy for me and hubby actually like the mild sauce with his fries.

There were also three juices to choose from, I selected the Herbal Limeade which was infused with Lime, Basil, Rosemary and Mint.  I loved it so much that I requested a refill, which is something that I never do, so you know it was good.  Hubby ordered the Maracuya, which was a Passion Fruit Juice and he also enjoyed it’s fresh flavor.

The portions were more than enough and we were both full afterwards, as a matter of fact I brought home a bit of my meal as did most of the patrons. I am however, looking forward to returning to try a few other menu items and of course next time bring the boys!

However, I couldn’t resist and purchased two desserts.  The Alfajores, were three melt-in-your-mouth Short Bread Cookies with dulce de leche filling and powdered sugar topping and Tres Leches which is a white Sponge Cake soaked in three milks however, at the time of this writing, I hadn’t tasted it yet.

I will however, come back to update this post once I do, but right now, I am heading to bed, totally full and satisfied.

5-stars-viva-chicken

Delaware did it again with this addition of a family friendly hot spot that provides authentic cuisine, large portions that are reasonably priced and is perfect for a date night or guys/girls night out.

I rated Viva Chicken 5 stars because of the food and friendly waitstaff, however, with only one bathroom each for men and women, I can see this becoming a problem with a long wait line for the ladies room, but when has that not ever been a problem for us ladies?
