A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to conduct a Blogging Basics and Podcasting Pointers Presentation for Quettes or the wives of the men of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity.
The Fraternity members and their spouses were in town for their 71st 2nd District Conference which was being held at Dover Downs Racetrack and Casino.
The Presentation was the final event of what we had planned for the Quettes that began on Thursday with the initial registration.
Hubby and I were in charge of planning the itinerary that started last October as well as packing the Swag Bags. He and I worked hard but had fun putting everything together and we had some wonderful goodies that were either purchased or donated by local vendors which included:

On Friday, I took the ladies on a Bus trip to Harvest Ridge Winery in Maydel for an afternoon of Wine Tasting and Tour. They had an opportunity to taste test 8 different brands of wines and each received a Wine Bag, Signature Glass and 2 bottles of wine as part of the package.
The lunch which was catered by Farmer’s Famous Fish included Seasoned Pulled Chicken and Roast Turkey Wraps, Mediterranean Pasta Salad, Cheese Tray, Fruit Tray and Individually Packaged Cookie Tray.
The lunch was followed by an all natural , Gluten Free, Vegan Ice Pop another great dessert from Summer J Artisan Ice Pops and the ladies enjoyed it all…I missed out on the Pasta and of course skipped the cookie but had two ice pops!
BTW – I only had a few sips of wine! – Diabetes and wine don’t mix!
Quettes on the Bus
As one of the sponsors for the 2nd District Conference it was my pleasure to present Blogging Basics and Podcasting Pointers on Saturday morning.

The first part of the presentation was “Build Your Brand with a Blog” which covered the basics of building a blog; using social media to drive traffic to the blog; and finally how to monetize the blog.
I believe the ladies really enjoyed this portion of the presentation especially when I told them that it would be a great way to leave a legacy online, as I’ve written about previously and is included in the latest edition of the Emerge Woman Magazine.
A break for lunch at the Festival Buffet and Raffle Giveaways preceeded the 2nd part of the presentation, “Podcasting Pointers“
The ladies were very appreciative and presented me with a gift afterwards which included a T-shirt, a magnet and Quette Pin of which was a surprise that almost brought me to tears.
The day ended at noon giving the ladies plenty of time to prepare for a scheduled Talent Show being held across the highway at Delaware State University.
Hubby and I however, packed up to head home as we were both exhausted from the long weekend and I had another engagement later on that evening.
