If Tears Could Build A Stairway – In Memory of my Grandmother

“If Tears Could Build A Stairway”

If tears could build a stairway,
and memories a lane.
I would walk right up to Heaven
and bring you back again.

No farewell words were spoken,
No time to say “Goodbye”.
You were gone before I knew it,
and only God knows why.

My heart still aches with sadness,
and secret tears still flow.
What it meant to love you –
No one can ever know.

But now I know you want me
to mourn for you no more;
To remember all the happy times
life still has much in store.

Since you’ll never be forgotten,
I pledge to you today~
A hollowed place within my heart
is where you’ll always stay.

  1. Dear Del: good morning and thanks for this beautifully teary article that indeed made me well up. I had told you that, like you, I pray every single morning to God Almighty. And I do it by watching first the pictures of my dearest grandmother Yolanda and my mother Gladys that are in Heaven watching for us, her family. They are not here anymore as they went on the trip that we will all make someday. But their presence is strongly felt by my children and I every day.
    A big kiss. Au revoir..

  2. Thank you my dear friend, not a day goes by that we don’t think of and miss our loved ones, especially mothers and grandmothers which make the month of May bittersweet.

God bless and keep you as Yolanda and Gladys look over you!
