On Wednesday, September 20th, I celebrated my 56th Birthday and even though I took the day off from work, which is my tradition, I was still up and out early starting the day at Delaware Technical and Community College for a 1 Million Cups presentation by Tanya Whye, President, CEO of Delaware Green, Mattress Disassembling, and Recycling.
A few months ago I was invited to become a volunteer organizer so every Wednesday at 8:00 am, I am there listening to entrepreneurs and new business owners presenting their ideas or promoting their products/services. Next week, I will have the honor of emceeing the program. If you are a small business owner, who is interested in giving an 8-minute presentation, free to promote your business, click this link to submit a request.
From there, I drove further into town to meet with Alex Close, the Corporate Relations Manager for the Sunday Breakfast Mission, which is an organization that not only feeds and shelters the homeless in Wilmington but also helps to restore lives to right relationships with God, families, and society. He gave me a tour of the facility and we talked about ways in which I can promote the Sunday Breakfast Mission on my blog.
I left a little before noon and headed back home but not before stopping to get my nails done at my favorite salon, and I chose a Pale color Dip Powder manicure. Then a quick stop at Summit Liquors for a bottle of my favorite wine, Liberty Creek Moscato before getting home at 1 pm.
Hubby was on the phone with our son, Malik and I had to pry him loose because I was starving! I chose to have lunch at the Green Turtle which is a Sports Bar that recently opened a location in Middletown. I didn’t want anything too heavy because I was conducting Part 2 of the Building Your Blog Workshop at DelTech later in the evening so I just had a Turkey and Cheese Flatbread sandwich with Raspberry Sauce and it was satisfying.
However, if you read the birthday post, you would have known that I wanted to be a kid again even if only for just a few hours, so I ordered a large glass of Lemonade and it was sweet!
All and all, my birthday was blessed because it was spent assisting others and isn’t that what makes living worth living?
