If you missed the episode, fret not! Here’s a recap brimming with the wellness wisdom that will help us boomers and beyond to thrive in our golden years.

I opened the show highlighting the importance of staying active for both physical strength and mental well-being. My advice? Begin with a daily stretching routine to awaken those muscles, and aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise. The takeaway? Every bit of movement counts, from a brisk neighborhood walk to grooving to your favorite tunes—all movement is a step towards a healthier you.

We delved into the vital role of nutrition, I encouraged listeners to plan meals with nutrient-rich foods, steering clear of the junk that can bog down our bodies. My personal kitchen companions, the Air Fryer, and Crockpot, are secret weapons that keeps meal prep exciting. I am all about experimenting with new recipes and I invite listeners to share their favorites. Batch cooking emerged as a pro tip for consistently hitting those nutritional goals.

Hydration, a fundamental yet often overlooked aspect of health, was another key topic. I confessed my own battle with water intake, but reminding my listeners that keeping hydrated is essential, especially as we grow older and even more so for individuals managing conditions like Type 2 Diabetes (a topic I promise to explore in future episodes).

The conversation then beautifully transitioned to mental and emotional well-being. I championed self-care activities that bring joy and relaxation. From indulgent afternoons with a good book to meditation or pursuing a hobby, the message was clear: carve out time for yourself to combat stress and bolster your overall well-being.

Loneliness and isolation, particularly prevalent among seniors, were not overlooked. I encourage building bridges to maintain connections, whether through social clubs, volunteer work, or frequent calls with loved ones—much like I do with my 90-year-old aunt in New Rochelle.

I underlined the significance of regular checkups and preventive care, urging listeners to prioritize their health by scheduling annual visits to their healthcare providers and advocating for their well-being without resorting to “Doctor Google.”
