In this episode of “Out & About with Antionette” I had the opportunity to interview Connie Drummond, CEO of Lady C. Productions.
While other eight-year-old girls were playing with Barbie dolls and braiding hair, Connie was writing. What started as a passion for the arts after a small role in a school play has now catapulted her to an award-winning playwright, producer, director and actress.
Connie is a recipient of the 2014 Benevolent Playwright Award, and as a 2015 nominee for the NAACP Image Awards Hometown Champion recognition, her work does more than speak for itself—it serves as building blocks to her future.
But in the words of the late Maya Angelou, life for Drummond “ain’t been no crystal stair.”
During the COVID-19 Pandemic, Connie lost her Corporate job and she prayed to keep ArtZscape open; in a dream her grandmother told her to fight; which she did and not only is ArtZscape fully booked until the end of the year; she had an opportunity to purchase a 2nd location which is now a Business Center for small business owners.
The next play to be shown is “The Watering Hole” which was written by Andre Jones who was a guest on Episode #30 and “Call me Mr. Scrooge” play begins performances in November and December starring Demetrius Bullock, also interviewed on Episode #30, then “Miracle on Market Street”
Connie has a book in the works, “How to Make Your Side Jawn Your Main Squeeze” so stay tuned for the release and if you wish to connect with her, check out the website, www.artzscape.com or Facebook @conniedrummondplaywrite or call 302-433-6622
