Have you ever wanted to meet a “Living Legend”?
If so who?
Well, there are a few living legends on my short list, but the woman at the top was most definitely Angela Davis, and last Thursday I had an opportunity to meet this Living Legend Angela Davis.
The Living Legend Series at the Wilmington Public Library was a chance to not only see, but listen to the words of wisdom from a self-proclaimed American Activist.
Angela Davis has authored several books, including ‘Women, Culture & Politics’ and has worked as a professor who advocates gender equity, prison reform and alliances across color lines. Her recently release book, Angela Davis An Autobiograpy was sold at the event and personally signed by her.
The event’s moderator Dr. Michelle Taylor President & CEO of United Way of Delaware, did a phenomenal job and I was front row taking in this amazing Q&A event. Angela Davis dropped some gems and shared historical facts to a full house.
Audience questions included one from Imani, a young 15 year old student who asked for advice not only for herself but that of her generation. Dr. Davis answered with wisdom and knowledge and to let her know that she wasn’t alone and that they were our future leaders.
Another question asked by an antagonist was also answered graciously yet powerfully that had everyone clapping in support.
Having rushed up from facilitating “Podcasting For Your Business and Brand” presentation in Middletown, I was more focused on Dr. Davis’ words and less on taking photos and videos, however, if you head over to my TikTok Channel or Instagram page you will see a little of both – use this QR Code below to access the sites.
You can read more about The “Living Legend Series” which opened last week and concludes with Blaxploitation film star and actress Pam Grier, on Wednesday, February 23.
