Showtime in a Santa Fe
If there ever were a great way to travel to New York, more specifically to Long Island, New York it would have to be in a 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe Limited Ultimate AWD.
Not having driven to New York in several years, I really wasn’t looking forward to it. However, since I was going there for my debut on cable TV, I just sucked it up, hopped into the driver’s seat and headed north.
Now I am not going to tell you that it was smooth sailing the entire trip, because it wasn’t. Between the heavy traffic, crossing the narrow Verrazano Bridge and the snow, it was a long, white knuckled, 8 hour round trip to the “Big Apple”
The first leg of the trip on the Jersey Turnpike wasn’t too bad and I didn’t feel nervous or uncomfortable considering the size of this vehicle. Many of you know that I drive a very small Chevy Spark which I affectionately call “Bloggy Buggy”.
The ride on the New Jersey Turnpike in this Hyundai Santa Fe was nice and smooth and the 19” wheels of the vehicle really hugged the road and held tightly to the curves even through those narrow “cattle shoots” on the bridge.
The color of this Hyundai Santa Fe was Storm Blue and the interior is soft black leather around the steering wheel and comfy Captain seats, there are also a few areas on the dash with faux wood trim.
The 8” Touchscreen and the sleek dashboard has a lot of bells and whistles including standard controls for climate control, interior and exterior lighting, wipers and controls for heated seats both front and rear as well as the steering wheel.
The touchscreen controls for the AM/FM/Sirius XM radio as well as Bluetooth with premium Quantum Logic Surround Sound speakers was great for bumping sounds from Watercolors as we navigated to Madhouse TV studio.
.
The Hyundai Blue Link Connected Car System with an 115-volt outlet in the rear gave me an opportunity to plug in my laptop for a quick update to my blog before hitting the road to head back home.

Initially, I was a bit concerned that the fuel economy of this Hyundai Santa Fe, (19 MPG city and 22 MPG highway) was going to put a dent in my wallet. Fortunately, it wasn’t a concern because we were able to drive there and get back on just one full tank of gas. Now, the total cost of the tolls…well that was a different story!
With its many standard features and a few added ones, the MSRP of this particular 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe was $44,295.00.
Of the many standard features below are my top 5:
Toni’s Top 5 Features
- Multi-View surround camera assistant
- Hands-Free Smart Liftgate
- 6-Passenger Seating with Captain Chairs – 50/50 split
- Dual Automatic Temperature and Rear Vents
- Panoramic Sunroof
In my opinion, the 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe LTD Ultimate AWD would be a perfect vehicle for a young family because of it’s many standard safety features.
They could travel comfortably for many years without feeling the need to purchase a larger vehicle as their family grows.
Let’s Chat: what do you think, is this a vehicle that you would consider for your family?
