On Saturday, March 22, 2025, Delaware State University transformed into a hub of inspiration and empowerment during the “Strength of a Woman” event, organized by the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc., Delaware Chapter. This wasn’t just an event; it was a powerful testament to the resilience and potential of women in our community.
From the moment you stepped into the Parlor, you could feel the vibrant energy. The focus was clear: to uplift and educate women through dynamic discussions and valuable resources centered on Economic Empowerment, Education, and Health. The organizers meticulously curated a lineup of panelists, each sharing their unique expertise and compelling personal journeys.
The panel discussions were a definite highlight, offering practical knowledge and actionable strategies for personal and professional growth. What truly set these sessions apart was their interactive nature. Ample time was dedicated to audience participation, allowing for engaging question-and-answer segments. This fostered a dynamic environment where attendees felt heard, valued, and empowered to delve deeper into the critical topics at hand.

We were also privileged to hear powerful words from U.S. State Senator Lisa Blount Rochester. Her insights and dedication to the community resonated deeply, reminding us of the importance of leadership and advocacy. Additionally, the event was warmly opened by Delaware State University’s First Lady, Tara Allen, whose welcoming remarks set the perfect tone for a day of connection and empowerment.

And then there was Jokata Eaddy, the keynote speaker. Her words were nothing short of transformative, igniting a fire within everyone present. Her message of strength, resilience, and unwavering belief in the power of women left a lasting impact. The gems she dropped and the African Bamboo Tree analogy struck a cord with every woman in the room!

Beyond the insightful discussions, the Resource Fair proved to be an invaluable asset. Vendors provided a wealth of knowledge, particularly on building financial wealth. In today’s economic climate, this practical information was incredibly relevant and beneficial. Attendees walked away with tangible tools and connections they could immediately implement in their lives.
I had the pleasure of attending this event, and a personal highlight for me was having the opportunity to see many familiar faces in person. It was also incredibly special to support my sorority sisters of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. It’s always a blessing to be able to connect with a strong and supportive community of women.
