The Power of Blogging and Personal Networks in Book Promotion
I’m thrilled to share that I was recently featured on “The Sell Your Book Podcast” with the wonderful Denise Renee! In this insightful episode, we delved into some fascinating topics about my journey as an author, blogger, and podcaster. Here are some of the key highlights from our discussion that you won’t want to miss:
🔷 Promoting My Book: I shared how I effectively promote my books through in-person events, blogging, and social media. From church gatherings to book bashes and sorority events, I leverage every opportunity to connect with potential readers.
🔷 Power of Personal Interaction: While online sales are important, I emphasized the unmatched power of personal interaction in book promotion, which helps build genuine connections and trust with readers.
🔷 Teaching and Mentorship: I found my passion for teaching after leaving IBM. My book, “Basic Blogging Tips for Beginners,” and “Podcasting Your Purpose Resource Guide” are based on my experiences teaching blogging and podcasting respectively. These resources are structured around coaching modules to help others kickstart their blogging and podcasting journeys.
🔷 Networking and Community: We discussed the importance of community networking, from participating in events like author roundtables and collaborative book signings to organizing author showcases in community spaces.
🔷 My Influences and Inspirations: I spoke candidly about how motivational speaker Les Brown’s motto, “you got to be hungry,” inspired me to start anew after being laid off from IBM. His words significantly motivated me and are a part of my personal and professional journey.
🔷 Legacy and Intellectual Contribution: We talked about the importance of writing a book as a means of creating a lasting intellectual legacy. Through my books, I aim to share personal insights and help others along their own paths.
🔷 Adapting to Changes: Our conversation also touched on how the pandemic shifted my teaching from in-person to online, which led to the creation of resources that continue to support and teach others.
This episode was indeed a special one as it was the finale of the current season of “The Sell Your Book Podcast.” It’s an honor to be featured, and I believe our conversation holds valuable insights for anyone interested in book writing, blogging, podcasting, and the power of community networking.
