On Wednesday, September 26th, I had an opportunity to attend the BIA Local Impact New York Seminar entitled Cross-Platform Media Investment and Consumer Engagement, which was held at the AMA Executive Conference Center on Broadway #BeLocalImpact
I was the guest of Travis Rothstein, owner of ConnecTheDot and who was also one of the featured panelist. Travis also lives in Middletown so we made it a “Road Trip” leaving at 6:30 am to be in time for the seminar which began at 11:45 starting with a Networking Lunch.
The BIA Local Impact Seminar was a great opportunity for networking as well as informative with interactive peer to peer discussions. In attendance were broadcasters, publishers, digital media and ad agency executives all there to share their visions and goals for the 2019 New York advertising market.
The speakers and topics included:
Survey Says…. New Insights into Advertiser Intentions for 2019
- Celine Matthiessen, VP, Analysis & Insights, BIA Advisory Services
Advanced TV and Innovation in Local Television
- Rick Ducey, Managing Director, BIA
Share of Wallet Session Decks
- Mark Fratrik, SVP and Chief Economist, BIA Advisory Services
- Neeraj Kulkarni, President, CIEK
Geotargeted Ad Fraud
- Rick Ducey, Managing Director, BIA Advisory Services
- Dr. Augustine Fou, Cybersecurity and Ad Fraud Researcher, Marketing Science Consulting Group
I was very intrigued by the presentation by Dr. Augustine Fou, who’s topic on Cybersecurity and Ad Fraud was what I referenced in Monday’s post.
Travis also did an excellent job in sharing his thoughts on Nationwide Ad Forecasting for 2019 across high-growth channels including mobile, social and video.
It was definitely a great day however, being outside on Times Square was the highlight of the trip. Being on Times Square looking up at the various marquees and acting like a tourist was fun and exciting.
On my Podcast last Sunday, I interviewed Omar Rashada, author of “From Tears to Glory: The Stories of Our Lives”. I told him how exciting it was being on Broadway and he completely agreed especially since he is an actor, play-write and now a published author. I am sure that one day, he too will have his name up in lights on a marquee on Broadway!
We ended the day with cocktails and appetizers at the Crown Plaza also overlooking Times Square, it was definitely a great way to end the day and I just may attend the next Local Impact in Dallas on November 8th.
If you have an opportunity to attend a BIA Local Impact Seminar, I suggest you go as you will learn more about marketing to the masses.
