Celebrating Delaware Weddings: Inside WED Society Delaware’s Mission & Magic

Dreaming of a wedding that’s unforgettable and uniquely YOU? What if you could tap into Delaware’s best-kept wedding secrets? 💍✨

Spotlight on Local Wedding Excellence

Delaware’s wedding scene is brimming with creativity, talent, and heartfelt celebrations, and thanks to Wed Society Delaware, these moments are getting the recognition they deserve. On a recent episode of Out & About with Antionette, I dove into conversation with Wed Society Delaware’s driving forces: Michelle Sheppard and Daniel Berkowitz. This dynamic duo isn’t just building a thriving business—they’re also planning their own wedding, giving them a front-row seat to every emotion and decision couples face.

Michelle, a graphic designer and creative director with over two decades of experience, finds joy in elevating other businesses through thoughtful design and compelling storytelling. Daniel’s entrepreneur’s spirit and operational expertise complete the partnership, ensuring Wed Society Delaware’s growth is both strategic and meaningful. Their combined experiences have brought them, and the wedding community, something truly special.

Wed Society Delaware: Connecting Couples and Vendors

Wed Society isn’t a new name in weddings—it was founded in 2007 in Oklahoma, born from a desire for better access to quality, trustworthy vendors. As the first Wed Society market in the Northeast, Michelle and Daniel are excited to see how Delaware’s unique wedding traditions can be showcased and grow within this supportive framework.

What sets Wed Society apart is its franchise model: although supported by a strong national brand, each market is locally owned and operated. This ensures that every featured vendor and celebrated couple reflects the flavors of the local community. From historic mansions to barn venues, beaches to eclectic downtown halls like The Queen in Wilmington (where Michelle and Daniel themselves will tie the knot), Delaware truly offers “a little bit of everything for everyone,” as Michelle puts it.

For couples, the chance to see real weddings from their own backyard, discover vendors like Twisted Vine florists and Savora Catering, and access resources that have been vetted for professionalism makes planning less stressful and much more inspiring.

Wedding of the Year: Honoring Standout Celebrations

One of Wed Society Delaware’s signature programs is their “Wedding of the Year” campaign. Each month, the team selects a particularly gorgeous or imaginative wedding as their “vows that wow” winner. At the end of the season, these winners go head-to-head in a public vote to determine the top wedding, which then moves on to the national contest for ultimate recognition.

Michelle notes that the selection process centers heavily on aesthetics and creativity: “We see so many come across our desk that just blow our minds.” Whether it’s a stunning new trend or a twist on tradition, these weddings shine for their ability to stand out and reflect the personalities of the couples at their center.

The Book of Weddings: A Keepsake of Delaware’s Best

Forget flimsy magazines—Wed Society Delaware publishes a stunning “Book of Weddings” each year, a coffee-table-worthy compilation of the state’s most beautiful celebrations. This high-quality, perfect-bound book features about 50 real weddings from the market, showcasing not only the couples but also the florists, venues, caterers, and countless other local professionals who make these days extraordinary.

Michelle explains the vision: “We’re presenting [vendors] to you, and we’re bringing you our recommendations.” The book serves as both inspiration and a tangible source for couples looking to plan locally, ensuring that Delaware’s hidden gems get their due spotlight.

Personal Touches and Wisdom for Couples

With their own wedding set for 2026, Michelle and Daniel know firsthand the thrill—and decision fatigue—that comes with planning. They urge couples to lean into personal meaning: “Plan with intention and lead with connection,” Michelle advises. Daniel adds the importance of choosing the right vendors: “Having a vendor that gets you as a person…is important because they will bend over backwards and make it your special day.”

From quirky touches like records and mixtapes woven into their own theme to the vital role that pets and honeymoons now play in wedding experiences, they stress that memorable weddings are those infused with personal flavor—not ones trying to fit a cookie-cutter mold.

A Bright Future for Delaware Weddings

Wed Society Delaware isn’t just transforming weddings—they’re building a collaborative network of small businesses, inspiring couples to dream big, and honoring the artistry unique to the First State. Whether you’re planning your own big day or simply love to celebrate local creativity, their work is proof that when community comes together, every love story can shine.
