I still haven’t the nerve to step onto the bathroom scale to see just how much weight I gained during our vacation in Cancun, Mexico. I will admit that I drank too many Dos Equis and Pina Coladas but what really got me were the soups!
If you think eating hot soup in Mexico is crazy, let me tell you that it was by far the best of the Mexican meals with my favorite being the “Beet Soup” and before you make a face, let me tell you…it was AMAZING!!!
Our compliments to the Chef, who actually photo bombed us in this picture! I love beets because they are one of the healthiest veggies so I wasn’t embarrassed to eat two bowls of this delicious soup.
We stayed at All Ritmo Resort which is an all inclusive resort that is part of our Timeshare options with Lifestyles Holidays Resort in Puerto Plata.
The best and worse part of being in an all inclusive resort is that you want to eat and drink your money’s worth. Trust me, we tried, however, after a few days of buffet meals in house we opted to cross the street for a Lobster dinner which wasn’t the best, nor was it the worse that I’ve had.
The Fish and Shrimp Cerviche appetizer was good as were the desserts.
However, getting back to the best Cancun cuisine, for me, it was definitely the soups, my second favorite was the Green Pepper Soup. It was flavorful and filling and adding croutons on top was a perfect compliment and filling.
The buffets were good, especially lunch and dinner, however, after day 2, I ended up eating mainly soup and salad at each sitting. My hubby and sons chose the more authentic Mexican selections including fish.
The breakfast buffet was where you found me after sunrise each morning, as it was a great way to start the day especially after a few Mimosas.
The Green Juice was available at breakfast and the Mexican Coffee was available in the lobby in the afternoons and both were delicious!
Next week, I will showcase more of the resort’s scenery, however, if you want to see more pictures and mini videos now you need to head over to my Facebook page or IGTV account.
The family and I had a wonderful vacation in Cancun, Mexico and we are looking forward to returning in the near future.

That looks like a delicious vacation! I’d go for the green pepper soup and the strawberry-topped dessert.
