As you may know, my family and I moved from Middletown to Smyrna, Delaware almost 2 years ago into what we consider our “Forever Home“.
Smyrna is located in Kent County, a small town with approximately 12 thousand residents and one that is more rural than surburban but we enjoy living here. It is a mixture of diverse demographics, small local stores and shops but it definitely could use more diverse events and more entertainment venues. In our housing development our neighbors are friendly, many are retired and we enjoy Smyrna as a small family-friendly town but it is defiitely growing!
I am not active in politics, however, I am active in my Sorority, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., and recently met Soror, Corrine Upshur who is quite active in politics. As a matter of fact, Corrine is currently running for a seat on the Smyrna Town Council.
In learning this, I invited her to be a guest on my podcast, Out & About with Antionette to talk about her platform as well as her vision for Smyrna.
Tuesday evening I once again had an opportunity to talk to her at the “Meet the Candidates” event where she along with the other candidates shared their platforms with a few residents, which unfortunately had a very low turnout, one of the points Corrine spoke about. We learned more about her vision and goals for Smyrna which she also spoke about on this episode.
