The Power of Black Sororities & Fraternities How the Divine Nine Gives Back

The purpose of the NPHC is to foster cooperation among its member organizations, focusing on matters of mutual concern and to enforce laws that pertain to the NPHC in central Delaware in accordance with the National Constitution and Bylaws. 

They work together to improve the Central & Southern Delaware communities and to use its collective influence to promote the general welfare of men, women, and children in the geographic area. To aid college and university administrations in attaining their educational and cultural objectives of undergraduate growth. 

With it’s service programs and events, they are the resource for those individuals and businesses looking to donate, support, collaborate, and provide information for the Kent and Sussex County areas. Program & Events include: Motivational Support for all students, Social Action Support, Support Delaware Adolescent Program, Inc. (DAPI) Christmas gifts, Health Wealth Fashion Show, and the BBQ Cook Off scheduled for September 16th.

You do not have to be a member of the D9 to attend or participate!

We had a great conversation, not only discussing these events and activities but also the importance of giving back within the state of Delaware.  Emphasis on how many members of the Divine Nine have always been very active in the political arena and how we love seeing Vice President Kamala Harris, staying very active as a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

As members of three different sororities, we all agreed that together we are stronger and there is collective power with all of the members of the Divine Nine.  Our bond is strong and the members of the National Pan-Hellenic Council of Central Delaware are working together to provide resources to the communities throughout the entire state of Delaware.

As a side note, Sheila, Nyesha and I all have a bond which is the friendship with Dr. Reba Hollingsworth, who is currently the Parliamentarian of the National Delaware State University Alumni Association.
