The campground was previously owned by Norman Dempster and has been a staple in the community for nearly 30 years. The historical significance of the campground is, that it was a private club for African American soldiers returning from World War I and World War II and a spot for Negro League practice. Over the years, it has been a space for community, fellowship, and recreation for people from diverse backgrounds.
Some of the amenities and offerings at G & R Campground include festival fields, performance stages, a swimming pool, cabins, and glamping experiences.
