3 Simple Ways to Keep a Positive Attitude During Holiday Stress

3 Simple Ways to Keep a Positive Attitude During Holiday Stress

This guest post was written by Antoinette Capri.

What makes holiday time drive you so crazy?

EVERYTHING!!

Between planning the days, buying gifts, running errands, setting the decorations, finding out who’s cooking, finding out who’s coming, taking time off from work, coordinating schedules, and getting yourself totally exhausted and frustrated; you go crazy before the holiday even gets here.

Naturally, you become stressed.

By this time, you are ready to cancel everything.

But wait, it doesn’t have to go that far. Keep your focus in the right direction.

Remember, YOU control your thoughts, feelings and actions, so create a challenge with your stress that will keep your attitude positive and encouraging.

Here are my 3 Simple Ways to Keep A Positive Attitude During Holiday Stress:

1.) Laugh Hard.

You know what makes you laugh hard and if you don’t…find out! Play your favorite funny movie, put a comedy app on your phone and play it throughout the day. An old quote says, “Music soothes the savage beast”, well I say, “Comedy soothes your evil twin”.

Do yourself a favor; find the humor in everything that may be driving you crazy. It’s the best way to discover your “calm in the midst of the storm”. Learn how to have a good time laughing at mishaps and mistakes that would normally make you want to choke someone. Listen, Let’s keep the “holy” in the “Holidays” and family fatalities to a minimum this year.

I’m just saying.

2.) Show Affection.

Share genuine affection with others. That’s right, genuine affection. Give hugs. Kiss face cheeks. Shake Hands. Smile sweetly. Hold Doors. Give compliments. Express manners.

Affection is the very thing our society is missing; in my strong opinion.

By affection, I mean genuine care and consideration for another person.

I’m not talking about sexy, flirty or seductive comments. I simply mean showing someone the love and kindness you would show to a newborn baby or a growing child that you want to keep safe and secure.

It’s very difficult to stay stressed during the holidays when you are giving and receiving genuine affection. Just remember, annoyance and kindness can’t dwell in the same moment. Show more care then discouragement, so you can change the attitude of the whole room… for the better.

3.) Stay Grateful.

It’s the holidays. What are you truly grateful for? Refresh your mind daily about your gratitude. Think about all the people that helped you during the year. Think about the people that helped you see this holiday season this year. Think about all the people that didn’t get to enjoy this holiday season. Think about all the great changes you’ve made in your life this year and all the changes you’ve made in other people’s lives.

Think about the healing over your body, over your finances, over your friendships and family. Think about the fact that you woke up one more day. You have so much to be grateful for. So, NEVER let your stress dictate your holiday season. You are in control. You control your thoughts, feelings and actions. God & You are the controller of your life…and that my friend….is the best gift of ALL!

Happy Holidays

Happy Happy Holidays to All!
