Vision Board or Bucket List in the New Year

Do you have a Vision Board or a Bucket List?

Every year I think we all have good intentions to make positive changes in our lives. Many people make new year resolutions, I personally, prefer to set goals. A few of my goals include, drinking more water and drinking less beer; reading more books and less scrolling on social media; I also need to exercise more outdoors and make better eating choices. However, should these goals or intentions be put on a vision board or written on a bucket list?

According to the definition : “a vision board is any sort of board on which you display images that represent whatever you want to be, do or have in your life” Once you dream it, the next step is to believe it. In addition to images, vision boards can include words, phrases or sentences that affirm your intentions.

Saturday is actually “National Vision Board Day” so, I guess I can cut out images and terms then place them on a vision board today.

A bucket list is defined as “a number of experiences or achievements that a person hopes to have or accomplish during their lifetime”.

Most of my goals are also hopes of accomplishments that I want to make during my lifetime, so shouldn’t they also be on a bucket list?

Bucket List
What is on your Bucket List

The term “bucket list” actually is synonymous with accomplishing things before we “kick the bucket” or die, and visions are also things that I want to accomplish before I die – so which do I use – create a vision board or simply write a bucket list to view daily to stay on track and focused?

How to start a bucket list

If you decide to write a bucket list just use a piece of paper and write all the things that you want to experience within your life.

However, instead of just having one list, you can also make specific slots for specific years to order the bucket list. You can list your items in steps like ‘within 5 years’ or ‘within 10 years’. These slot may help to push yourself to finally achieve your goals by creating a sense of urgency.

How to start a vision board

The board itself is usually made using cardboard, pictures and glue. The best and most effective way of vision boards is to actually use pictures or images that represent your goals. This will allow you to visualize the meaning of each goal when you see it. Most use cut outs from magazines that represent what they are aiming for.

Bucket list or vision board?

You actually can have both. The bucket list seems more structured and clear and you can tick off the items once you have achieved the goal. The vision board allows you to see the images on a regular basis which can also help you manifest the goal.

It’s really up to you and I would love to know which works best for you – leave a comment below.

    1. I made one last year, but need to create a new vision board for 2019, however, I don’t subscribe to many magazines for the images, may have to create an online Vision Board instead.
