Are you a blogger who is tired of turning out content day after day, week after week and month after month only to realize that no one is reading it? Your stats are low and you feel like the lonely tree in the forest?
As a new blogger, we have all been there, so here are 7 steps to social engagement that will get people to start reading and sharing your content.
Step 1:
Write with the words “you” and “I” as it makes the reader feel like you are having a conversation with only them which is more of an incentive for them to come back and read more. Connect with your readers like you are having a one-on-one conversation.
Step 2:
Make sure your paragraphs are no longer than 5 or 6 lines. Most people don’t like to read so long paragraphs can seem overwhelming which discourages them from reading further.
Step 3:
Use sub-headings or different size fonts. To make the content easier to skim try using sub-headings, bold or different size fonts which makes is easier for your readers to find what is of most interest to them.
Step 4:
End your post with a conclusion. Having a conclusion will let the reader know what your blog post is about. Like skimming, many readers will scroll down, read the conclusion first and then go back up for the rest of the blog post.
Step 5:
Cite your facts. When you are using facts or curated content, make sure you cite the source. Building credibility is very important because you want your readers to trust you.
Step 6:
Always use images or pictures. Remember, “pictures are like a thousand words” so make sure to include them.
Step 7:
Write thorough actionable content and always end with a CTA or Call to Action. Ask your readers to do something, whether it’s to leave a comment, share the article with others, enter a contest or simply answer a question, get them vested.
