Snack Tray

Can you believe that it’s already the middle of January and we still haven’t gotten any significant snow…at least not here in the state of Delaware.

As a matter of fact, yesterday I interviewed Eric Vardon, CEO of Morphio in Canada, and he too stated that the weather has been extremely warm with no snow in their forecast either! #globalwarming

However, according to local meteorologists there might be a few flakes on Saturday, so if there are and we get stuck indoors here are a few suggestions for snow day snacks.

Snow Day Snacks

fresh fruits

Fruit

Fresh fruit is both healthy and delicious! Sliced strawberries, diced apples with peanut butter and seeded, not seedless grapes are great.

Popcorn

My favorite is Skinny Pop, as a matter of fact my son ordered me a case from Amazon! Did you know that popcorn is a healthy snack that’s full of fiber and is low in calories just as long as you stay away from adding butter.

Eggs

A soft- or hard-boiled egg with a dash of pepper can be a quick, tasty, protein-filled snack to help you stay energized in case you have to go outdoors and shovel some snow!

Hummus

Hummus is my favorite snack food especially the Roasted Red Pepper. This chickpea spread is filling and low in calories! You can dip in or spread on pretzels, pita chips, pita bread, carrots, celery, basically any veggie you have in the fridge.

Cheese

Call me Minnie – Cheese Please! I can basically eat any type but my favorites are Brie, Feta, Goat and Mozzarella. Again pairing cheese with pita bread or Ritz Crisps & Thins are my favorite way to eat this treat.

Nuts

Nuts are a fantastic healthy snack: packed with protein that require no preparation. I keep a bag in my car and in my office in case my stomach starts growling! The variety of this snack is great as there is everything from Almonds, Cashews, Peanuts, Pecans, Macadamias and more.

Salsa and Bruschetta

Salsa and Bruschetta are also one of my favorite snow day snacks, of course with tortilla chips or Ritz Crisps is how I eat it.

Yogurt

There are so many different brands and flavors of yogurt however, I don’t like Greek Yogurt because it’s too thick for me!

So if you are indoors this weekend, why not grab a snack, kick back and read a few of this week’s blog posts at the Traffic Jam Weekend Linky Party.

But before you go, please leave a comment to tell us what your favorite snow day snack is.
