Hello, Boomers and Beyond!
Summer has officially arrived here in beautiful Delaware, ushering in those long, sun-filled days that just feel packed with possibility. As your resident DE Divah, I couldn’t help but think about all the ways this vibrant season invites us to slow down, reflect, and—perhaps most importantly—reignite old passions. This week on the Boomers and Beyond Podcast, we dove into one of my favorite topics: rediscovering your inner artist.
It’s Never Too Late to Create
Let’s be honest, life has a funny way of sweeping us up in its busyness. Careers, raising families, and endless responsibilities often push our creative pursuits to the back burner. But now, we find ourselves with a little more breathing room, a bit more time to do something just for ourselves. And what better way than to tap back into those creative dreams, whether it’s coloring, writing, painting, knitting, or simply doodling on the back porch?
You might be saying, “But Antionette, I am not an artist!” Listen, you don’t need to be Picasso to get the benefits. It’s all about the joy of making, not about perfecting a masterpiece. Simply engaging in a hobby that speaks to your creative side is a wonderful way to reduce stress, express your feelings, and keep your mind nimble.

Creativity is Self-Care
Did you know that picking up an old craft or trying something new—even just for a few minutes—can leave you feeling refreshed and recharged? It’s a proven stress reliever and even gives your brain a much-needed workout. Plus, the sense of accomplishment when you finish a project (big or small!) is a total confidence booster.
And guess what? You don’t need to break the bank to get started! Your local Dollar Tree or community center is packed with affordable craft supplies. Grab a coloring book, a pack of colored pencils, some yarn—or just a pen and notepad if you love to write. YouTube and online groups are also fantastic for inspiration and support (I just found some line-dancing tutorials for boomers, and let me tell you—they’re a blast!).

Join the Movement!
So here’s my challenge for you this summer: do something creative, just for you. Knit a scarf, write a poem, join a painting group, journal your thoughts, or even recycle old materials into something beautiful. The possibilities are endless and the benefits are real.
And most importantly—share your creative journey! Tell me about what you’re making, learning, or dreaming of trying next. You never know who you’ll inspire along the way.
