Maybe you save your grandmother’s crystal glasses, a precious tablecloth, or a cozy throw “for guests,” but those guests or occasions never quite seem to arrive.

I get it—because I do it too. But here’s what I’ve been thinking (and what I challenged our listeners to consider): Why are we waiting? Isn’t today special enough?

During the episode, I reminisced about a heartfelt conversation with my best friend, Sherri. We talked about how, now more than ever, we realize that we have more years behind us than ahead. This isn’t just about china or crystal; it’s about living fully, vibrantly, and authentically. The “fine china” is just a metaphor for all those parts of yourself you tuck away, waiting for a reason to celebrate.

Why not make today the special occasion? Wear that gorgeous scarf. Light those candles just because it’s Wednesday. Serve your sandwich on the “fancy” plate. Wrap up in that cozy throw from grandma and savor every simple moment.
